Developing Competence in Leadership

This is a global era. Whether operating globally or not, most organizations are impacted by globalization, confronting the managers and leaders with the new challenges and complexities. Leadership competence is critical to the success of organizations, perhaps more than ever before. The current environment is creating the need for higher and newer leadership competencies, and also leadership skills at all levels of the organisations. Dr. Uma Jain’s study on ‘Leadership Competencies for the challenges in the Global Era’ brings out:

To be ready to move without adequate knowledge into the land of uncertainty and being willing to get lost with confidence will be the essential competence for dealing with this era of uncertainty and change. However, the basic mindset and competencies that will make it possible will be valuing diversity, teamwork, collaboration, congruence in stated and practiced values, continuous learning and sharing of power. These may seem difficult to acquire but may make leadership both easier and effective. Click here to download the complete paper

Various other research studies also bring out a wide range of competency demands on the leaders in the current era.

We offer a number of programs that specifically focus on developing leadership competence in organizations.

I have attended two special programmes facilitated by Uma for my team. These were events to be remembered. They were not the usual routine of presentations and discussions but opportunities to discover self, team, challenge and support. These events helped each member of the team to work on self and as a team. The different approaches (structured and unstructured) used in these two events were beneficial both for individual and team learning. It did help us to see unknown facets of each individual as a part of the team and also got us to appreciate our strengths. We were also able to identify our areas of development. The events gave us enough practical ideas to work on, back in the office.

The overall feedback from the team has been very positive and it has helped both the team and individuals to grow.
