Dr. Uma Jain - Founder CEO and Principal Consultant
Introduction
Dr. Uma Jain, the founder CEO and Principal Consultant of Saharth, combines the experience of being an internal and external consultant, an organizational leader, a corporate HRD Manager and a teacher of organizational behaviour for the last 25 years. She has focused on and is well-known for her work in values and culture building, group development, team building, leadership development, personal growth & effectiveness, systemic dynamics and empowerment of middle managers, design & implementation of performance appraisal and other HRD systems, MBTI for teambuilding and leadership and organizational culture surveys.
Uma Jain is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. She is a Professional member of the Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Science and has continuously updated her expertise in various areas of HRD and applied behavioural science including the Training for Trainers program in large scale interactive processes, Appreciative Inquiry, and Search conferences. She is a member of the NTL Institute of Applied Behavioural Science, USA since 1998 and is also a certified trainer for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
She headed the corporate HRD and OD department for over a decade at CMC Ltd., a pioneering name in the field of information technology with operations in India and abroad, where she initiated and conducted several innovative programmes and systems. As the Director of the Academy of Human Resources Development, Ahmedabad, she contributed significantly to the education and research in HRD in the country, steering its educational & professional development programmes and publications. She has held leadership roles of President, Dean Programmes, Professional Development, External Linkages and Professional Excellence at ėThe Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Scienceķ (ISABS). She has been a visiting faculty at IIM, Ahmedabad and Ahmedabad Management Association. She has also been the President of the Ahmedabad Chapter of National HRD Network.
Uma Jain is currently a member of the Governing Board of NTL Institute, USA and the Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Science (ISABS).
I have the privilege of knowing Uma for over 2 years in different professional capacities. I have also attended two special programmes facilitated by Uma for my team. These were events to be remembered. They were not the usual routine of presentations and discussions but opportunities to discover self, team, challenge and support. These events helped each member of the team to work on self and as a team. The different approaches (structured and unstructured) used in these two events were beneficial both for individual and team learning. It did help us to see unknown facets of each individual as a part of the team and also got us to appreciate our strengths. We were also able to identify our areas of development. The events gave us enough practical ideas to work on, back in the office.
The overall feedback from the team has been very positive and it has helped both the team and individuals to grow.
