The Birth of Saharth : From the Founder CEO

Photograph of Uma JainHere is the story of the beginning of Saharth…

In my journey of personal and professional growth, as I have striven to contribute with excellence to the organizations and institutions that I worked with, I have felt a consistent and increasing significance of developing competence in practicing values, collaboration and unleashing leadership potential for integrating a sense of meaning with success.

Quite early in my journey, I recognized that choosing goals in life away from values based on the expectations of others, doing what is easily achievable or what everyone else does, not only does not bring out one’s best but also creates a feeling of emptiness even in the midst of success. At several stages of my life, I have taken time to clarify my values and enhance my competence for collaborative work to discover new and creative ways of integrating success with satisfaction.

In the midst of the increasing complexity of the current world, focusing on values and collaborating with people has enabled me to pursue achievement and a sense of meaning in my life as well as facilitate others in their pursuits. My effectiveness in leadership roles in several organizations has had roots in a continuous reflection on my personal values and synergistic collaborative processes with colleagues.

The frequent questions and concerns of my clients have confirmed the growing need to work in these areas:

My continuing search for providing efficacious solutions to these and similar concerns, has taken me to learning spaces in India and abroad to study and experience the ancient Indian wisdom as well as western literature and methodologies. I have focused on gaining an understanding of human processes and developing competence to facilitate synergy, meaning, collaboration and leadership in the lives of individuals, teams and organizations.

Individual and organizational clients have expressed that my work with them has enabled them to give a creative and meaningful direction to their life and work and enhance their effectiveness.

There is a lot to be done and learnt in this area. Opportunities as well as challenges of the globalised world are confronting people and organisations with contrary and paradoxical demands - competition and collaboration, pursuing values in the midst of widespread value erosion, delivering value to customers with employee satisfaction, to name a few. At this stage, my dream is to focus on sharing and generating knowledge to develop values-based, collaborative and prosperous people, organizations and society.

Saharth has been founded to create forums in the pursuit of this dream. I am fortunate to have a network of Indian and international professionals who share this dream and are working collaboratively with Saharth offering their goodwill, passion and special expertise.

I look forward to exploring ways of supporting your search for synergy, meaning, leadership and prosperity in your life and spaces you are part of.

Uma’s understanding of group dynamics and her facilitation of T-Groups are a class apart, and so is her capacity to constantly review her experiences and formulate hypotheses about groups and trainer interventions. Uma has made an immense contribution to building professional competence in ISABS as a trainer and Dean Professional Development, and to institution building as President of ISABS and more recently as the Director of Academy of HRD.

Having recently worked with her on Value Clarification interventions for leaders in corporate organisations, I believe that she brings the richness of her 25 years of experience in Applied Behavioural Sciences to all training, consulting and research work that she does.
